Why use Apprenticeships Plus?

For employers, taking on an apprentice or trainee is a big job. How do you get the right candidate? What will it cost? How will you find time for the recruitment process? Who will handle all the paperwork? And what happens if it doesn't work out?

Apprenticeships Plus provides all of the following services to our Host Employers:

  • Recruitment - Advertising, Screening, Interviewing, Aptitude Testing
  • Industrial Relations legislation compliance
  • Payroll - including payment of weekly wages, PAYG taxation, Payment Summaries (Group Certificates), leave calculations & payment, Superannuation
  • Management of all records required by Australian Apprenticeship Centres, Australian Taxation Office, Skills Victoria, TAFE/Registered Training Organisation, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.
  • Workcover - premium payments, Claims Management (including payment of medical costs, weekly wages etc if an apprentice or trainee has a Workcover claim), including Return to Work plans
  • Police checks where required
  • Pre-employment medical checks as required
  • Full day induction program on commencement, including Introduction to OH&S
  • TAFE enrolment and monitoring of the Apprentice's/Trainee's performance during off-the-job training
  • Personal safety equipment for the apprentice or trainee - Safety Footwear, Overalls, Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, etc as applicable
  • OH&S support for the Host Employer
  • Regular on-the-job visits by qualified and experienced staff to monitor the work performance of your apprentice or trainee
  • We carefully manage the performance of the apprentice or trainee with on-the-job mentoring and support.
  • Performance management is handled by our staff if/as required
  • Support from our staff for you as the employer
  • Refund of TAFE fees to Apprentices and Trainees on successful completion of each year's TAFE /RTO modules
  • Flexibility of one week's notice for return of the Apprentice or Trainee for any reason

As a Host Employer you provide:

  • Signed weekly time sheets detailing hours worked by the apprentice or trainee, authorised by the appropriate supervisor
  • Supervised on-the-job training.
  • A work environment meeting all required standards

You pay the following costs, invoiced to you weekly:

  • The apprentice/trainee's wages, overtime, loadings etc
  • A percentage on-cost charge which covers annual leave, leave loading, personal leave, public holidays, WorkCover, etc.
  • Compulsory superannuation.
  • Service Fee
  • Off-the-job training days

Off-site training is tailored to recognise existing skills of the apprentice or trainee, and to align with your business needs. Monitoring of the apprentice's or trainee's progress, both on and off the job, ensures continuing value for your business.

Since Apprenticeships & Traineeships are now competency-based, an apprentice or trainee is able to complete their training more quickly if they have reached the required level of skill. Training and employment can also be extended, or undertaken part-time, which often suits a particular industry or host employer.
